Generally, topology optimization deals with force input systems which is very common in structural analysis. And
design sensitivity analysis(DSA) for those systems has been well established by many mathematicians and engineers.
In general, the force input model works well for the general structural systems. Certain physical system, however,
requires displacement input model, such as voltage input in electrostatic systems. This paper present the DSA for
displacement input systems using the adjoint variable method(AVM). An optimal energy absorbing system is
achieved for the prescribed displacement system. The proposed design method would be applied to more practical
systems like bumper.
