This study provides the concept of agricultural tourism by categories and the developing strategy for each type of recreational farming in Kangwon Province.
The primary focus of this study is to investigate characteristics and perspectives of agricultural tourism in Kangwon Province. We have examined the current existing patterns of recreational farming and pointed out the problems in the fields of recreational farming projects.
The various development strategies should be devised for farm household to get more income by engaging in recreational farming project. That could be the pattern of combining the attraction of many tourists with creating and selling the high value-added farm products and special products, and offering lodging places.
Furthermore, this recreational farming project must be settled down as a new nonfarm income source in rural community.
Agricultural tourism(recreational farming) has aimed not only for the increase of non-farm income but for the preservation of the rural society and natural environment and for the balanced development between rural and urban area through the improving farmer's living standard.
