This study is to provide basic data for the planning of department stores by examining and analyzing physical environment of the main department stores located in Seoul.
Department stores as architectural or commercial facilities in which lots of products are distributed at one place are deeply rooted in our life. It is a great attraction being able to buy and sell products at one place. Stores have to accommodate enormous facilities and population. Therefore, as the facilities may cause lots of problems when they are built in the centers of cities, their influence on the surrounding environment and neighborhoods should be examined when planning and before construction.
