The series of tests were conducted to investigate the behavior of a wall portion of a large panel
structure from a loss of a wall. Four 1/4 scale models of three-story cantilevered wall were tested
with key parameters,the cross section area of tie bar and loading type.
The models typically failed by the severe joint opening, i.e. the yielding and rupture of tie
reinforcements. Shear failure of the vertical joint was also observed from the considerable shear
slip with the yeilding of the tie bar. Test results also show that the amount of the transverse tie
reinforcements along with the loop bars in the vertical effects the behavior of the damaged
L.P.building.
