Two elasto-plastic beam element models are compared for the
limit analysis of planar frames. One is a FEM beam element
and the other is an elastic beam with elasto-plastic springs
at both ends(EBEPS) developed for the limit analysis of planar
frames. Direct Method is used for the limit analysis. In the
point of accuracy, EBEPS is comparable with FEM beam model.
However, EBEPS is superior to FEM beam model in efficiency.
