Domestic construction industry is on the brink of facing the
increasingly critical situation in securing the work orders and
making profits therefore due to inferiority of design & engineering
and weakening of international competitiveness. The above-mentioned
has been caused by internationalization of construction market which
will be openning korea construction market to overseas contractor
(Uruguay Round) and deterioration of domestic construction market
(civil appeal, pollution, shortage of materials & labour)as well as
the variety of construction needs stemmed from social circumstance
change. This market push and technology pull are challenging the
korea construction to find out better ways to promote, implement
innovative construction technologies(hard & soft)
In this regards, the traditional project delivery system(seperation
of design and construction organization and linear system)is not
sufficient to cope with environment change and improvment of
delivery system. The goal of owner is to have a project that
incorporates the latest technology with timely completion and
within budget. this goal has resulted in integration of design
and construction with fast tracking system which can be able to
consider the constructability(construction method statement,
material availability, experience knowledge etc.)from start to
the completion of project.
