The rigid element method(REM) was the new analytical method for
analyzing the elasto-plastic analysis of wall-type precast
concrete structures by applying the concept of rigid bodies
-spring model. For improvement and expansion of this REM,
recently present authors developed the new elements, that is,
rectangular-shaped spherical element, rectangular-shaped plate
bending element, rectangular-shaped cylindrical bending element,
rhombus-shaped cylindrical bending elemnt and rectangular-shaped
spherical bending element.
In this paper, to improve the spherical elemets, it is proposed
the generalized rectagular-shaped spherical element and the
analytical procedure, for the analysis of spherical shell with
variable section by the rigid elemnt method.
