This study aims to find out the aesthetics and system of the
elevation of the Korean traditional architecture by analysing
the type of thefront side and the perceptual element of the
frontality on the Upper Class Houses in Chosun Dynasty. Because
they have the spatial structure which is composed of Chae(채)
and Madang(마당), they have the frontality and express it in
Sarang-Chae(사랑채) and An-Chae(안채). And there are a Daechung
(대청) type, a Daengung-centered type, a Banng(방)-centered type,
a parallel type in the type of the front side. The front side of
An-Chae express the functional and symbolic frontality by details
in a wall elevation, symmetry, the nature of center, vertical
ascending and the front side of Sarang-Chae express the brillance
and beauty of shape as a exterior elevation by a smooth roof line,
degnfied height of podium, horizontal extention.
