Among the many various diseases generated today, the
importance of the mental disease has been gradually
increasing. The heavy mental patients have occupied more
than 60% among them in our country. It is necessary, to
make the pan-national enlightment of mental health and to
establish the epochal countermeasure of medical treatments,
and prevention as fact as possible. The physical treatment of
mental disorder is an important method of treatments,
but the environmental treatment with long-term hospitalization
is more important. Therefore, the basic data in dimension,
planning, and architectural design of mental facilities are
seriously demanded to architects and administrators in the early
process of not only improving or enlarging but newly building
the mental faciliteis such as mental hospital, sanatorium,
and private mental home.
