Among all the fields related to the social welfare
facilities, this study, with the object of special school
for mentally retarded children, proposes to form a
homogeneous group, giving attention to the individual
difference, the state of handicap, and the behavior, and to
establish the learning space corresponding to the
characteristics of the group.
As for the methodology, through the analyses of the
curricula of mentally retarded children and of the actual
instruction on the facilities, their educational needs
equivalent to learning space are understood, on the other
hand, their needs for space are grasped by analyzing their
learning behaviors and their ability to lead their basic lives.
