본 연구는 중국의 뉴스 프로그램 이용 만족도와 재시청 의도에 영향을
미칠 것으로 여겨지는 선택요인을 구성하고, 이러한 선택요인이 실제로
시청자의 이용 만족과 재시청 의도에 영향을 미치는지를 파악하고자 하
는 것이다. 이를 통해 중국 뉴스 프로그램의 제작과 방송사의 경영에 실
질적인 도움이 될 수 있는 실증적 자료를 제공하는 것을 목적으로 하였
다. 먼저 뉴스 프로그램 선택요인을 뉴스 품질 측면, 진행자의 특성 측
면, 채널 브랜드 자산 측면으로 요인화하였다. 이 중에서 뉴스 품질 측면
은 재시청 의도에 유의적인 영향을 미치지 못하며, 진행자 측면에서 신
뢰성이 재시청 의도에 유의적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 신뢰성
있는 뉴스 진행자를 부각시키기 위한 방안이 필요하다는 것을 알 수 있
다. 브랜드 자산 측면의 경우, 이미지가 재시청 의도에 유의적인 영향을
미치는 것으로 나타났다. 채널 브랜드의 이미지에 대한 긍정적인 지각을
높여 재시청자를 확보하는 것이 필요하다는 것을 알 수 있다. 뉴스 프로
그램 선택요인이 이용 만족도에 미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과, 뉴스 품질
측면의 공정성과 진행자 측면의 전문성이 이용 만족도에 유의적인 영향
을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 뉴스의 공정성과 진행자의 전문성을 긍정적
으로 평가하는 시청자일수록 만족도가 높아질 수 있다는 것을 알 수 있
다. 브랜드 자산 요인은 이용 만족도에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것
으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 뉴스 프로그램에 대한 만족도는 재시청 의도
에 유의적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
본 연구결과를 통해 중국의 방송사들은 시청자들이 뉴스 프로그램을
선택하기 위한 요구 조건을 충족시키기 위해 우선적으로 채택해야 하는
요인과 그 속성이 무엇인지 파악할 수 있을 것이다. TV 뉴스의 선택요
인 중 재시청 의도에 영향을 주는 것은 진행자의 신뢰성과 채널 브랜드
의 이미지인 것으로 나타났음을 알 수 있었다. 뉴스 콘텐츠의 품질은 재
시청 의도에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타나서 중국 시청자들은 뉴스
의 내용보다는 외적인 이미지 요인이라고 할 수 있는 진행자의 신뢰성
있는 모습, 브랜드 이미지에 더 많은 영향을 받고 있음을 알 수 있다. 이
는 중국 사회가 사회주의 체제 하에 있음으로 인해 뉴스 내용에 있어 채
널 간에 크게 차별성이 없기 때문이라는 점을 생각해 보게 한다. 중국
사회주의 언론에서는 국가의 기본 방향이나 정부 정책, 당의 노선이 뉴
스 내용을 결정하는 중요한 기준이 되고 있기 때문이다.
TV 뉴스의 선택요인이 만족도에 유의적인 영향을 미치는 것은 뉴스의
공정성과 진행자의 전문성 요인이었다. 중국의 시청자들이 TV 뉴스에서
기대하는 중요한 가치는 뉴스가 공정한가와 진행자가 전문성을 가지고
뉴스 내용을 전달하고 있는가에 관한 것이다. 뉴스 외적인 이미지보다는
뉴스의 내용적인 측면이 만족도에 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있다. 뉴
스의 선택요인 중에서 재시청 의도에 영향을 미치는 것과 만족도에 영향
을 미치는 것에는 차이가 있음을 알 수 있다.
TV 뉴스의 선택요인 중에서 재시청 의도에 직접적인 영향을 미치는
것은 신뢰감을 주는 진행자의 말투나 이미지, 그리고 채널의 브랜드 이
미지와 같은 뉴스 내용 외적인 것이었다. 그렇지만 뉴스의 내용에 대해
서 고려하지 않을 수 없는 것은 본 연구에서 매개변수로 설정한 만족도
에 영향을 주는 것은 뉴스의 공정성, 뉴스를 전달하는 진행자의 전문성
과 같은 뉴스의 내용에 관련된 것이었기 때문이다. 뉴스에 대한 만족도
가 뉴스의 재시청 의도에 영향을 주기 때문에 재시청 의도를 높여서 시
청률을 향상시키기 위해서는 TV 뉴스의 내용적인 측면에 대한 고려도
있어야 할 것이다.
