최근 기록정보 활용의 확산을 위한 아웃리치 서비스가 주목받게 되면서, 디지털 콘텐츠를 전시하는 방식인 ‘온라인 전시’는 기록관에서 제공하는 또 하나의 기록정보서비스로 자리매김하고 있다. 웹사이트에서의 온라인 전시를 통해 이용자들은 시간과 공간의 제약 없이 원하는 기록전시를 관람하고 이와 관련된 기록정보를 얻을 수 있게 되었다. 온라인 전시는 이용자와의 상호작용을 증대시키면서 메시지 전달은 물론, 홍보 역할까지도 수행함에 따라 최근에 더욱 보편화되기 시작하였다. 분명 기록관 웹사이트에서 제공되는 온라인 전시의 기능과 역할은 공간에서 이루어지는 물리적 전시와는 다를 것이다. 그러나 아직까지 기록관에서 온라인 전시를 효과적으로 서비스하기 위해 활용할 만한 가이드라인이나 지침 또는 최소한 갖추어야 할 기능요건 리스트가 별도로 마련되지 못하고 있는 상황이다.
따라서 본 연구는 기록관의 온라인 전시 구축을 활성화하고, 이를 체계적으로 운영할 수 있도록 기록관 온라인 전시가 갖추어야 할 기본적 기능요건과 각각의 기능요건의 우선순위를 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 현재 접근할 수 있는 기록관 온라인 전시 사이트를 대상으로 온라인 전시 기능과 담당자의 온라인 전시에 대한 인식을 분석하였다. 다음으로 문헌분석을 토대로 기록관 온라인 전시의 3가지 핵심기능적 속성과 각각의 속성에 해당되는 총 13개의 기능요건을 도출하였다. 마지막으로 기록관 온라인 전시 담당자의 기능요건에 대한 상대적 중요도 평가를 분석적 계층분석 방법으로 분석하여 기능요건의 우선순위를 파악하였다. 다음은 분석결과이다.
첫째, 기록관 온라인 전시 사이트를 분석한 결과 온라인 전시 사이트는 대부분 사진 형태의 포맷만을 제공하고 있었고 온라인 전시의 특징인 상호작용성이나 검색성, 이용자 맞춤형 서비스를 아직 구현하지 못한 기록관이 많이 있는 것을 알 수 있었다.
둘째, 기록관 온라인 전시 운영 사항을 살펴보았을 때, 일 년에 최소 한번은 온라인 전시를 제공하고 있지만, 체계적 관리업무를 위한 지침이나 정책, 자체적 평가는 거의 없는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 기록관 온라인 전시 담당자들은 온라인 전시의 주요 기능으로 이용자들의 기록전시에 대한 이해도를 높일 뿐만 아니라, 기록관 홍보 및 이용자 확보로 보았다. 또한, 담당자에게 가장 필요한 역량은 전시물을 이해하는 능력이라고 대답하였고 온라인 전시를 수행하는데 가장 먼저 해결해야 하는 문제는 예산 및 인력 부족이라 하였다.
셋째, 온라인 전시나 전시를 수행하는데 기준이 되는 지침이나 표준 또는 전시평가 기준 등을 분석하여 기록관 온라인 전시가 갖추어야 할 핵심기능적 속성을 3가지, 즉 <정보전달 기능>, <정보적 기능>, <전시효과적 기능>을 추출하였다. 다음으로, 선정된 32편의 온라인 전시/기록전시 선행연구에서 제시된 전시 기능요소들을 핵심기능적 속성별로 분류한 다음 종합하여 13개의 기록관 온라인 전시 기능요건을 도출하고 정의하였다. 도출된 기능요건은 <정보전달 기능: 사용성, 검색성, 심미성, 기술성, 상호작용성>, <정보적 기능: 주제적 독창성, 내용적 포괄성, 구조적 체계성, 커뮤니케이션>, <전시효과적 기능: 교육적 경험제공성, 연구 및 학습지원성, 심미적 오락성, 홍보 및 전시활성화>이다.
넷째, 온라인 전시 담당자들은 <정보전달 기능>, <전시효과적 기능>, <정보적 기능> 순으로 중요하다고 보았다. 그리고 각 속성별 가장 중요하다고 본 기능요건은 ‘심미성’, ‘구조적 체계성’, ‘교육적 경험제공성’이다. 그러나 전체적으로 보면, ‘심미성’이 가장 중요하다고 보았고 그 반면, 가장 낮은 중요도를 보인 기능요건은 ‘주제적 독창성’과 ‘내용적 포괄성’으로 모두 <정보적 기능>에 속하였다. 또한, 기록관 그룹별로 비교·분석한 결과, 일반기록관의 경우, ‘심미성’과 ‘사용성’이 가장 중요하다고 하였지만, 대학기록관은 ‘상호작용성’과 ‘교육적 경험제공성’을 가장 중요하다고 하였다.
따라서 기록관은 온라인 전시의 접근성 및 이용자 편의성을 지원하는 기능을 가장 고려해야 하며, 이 중 이용자에게 온라인 전시의 특성을 각인시키는 ‘심미성’ 기능요건을 가장 고려할 필요가 있다고 본다. 특히 이용자의 관심 수준이나 이용목적이 다양한 일반기록관에서는 ‘심미성’과 ‘사용성’을 기능을 우선적으로 고려하여 온라인 전시 시스템을 구축할 필요가 있다. 다만, 학생들이나 교직원들이 주로 이용하는 대학기록관은 이용편의나 흥미유발 요소보다는 기록관과의 상호작용이나 교육적 경험을 풍부히 제공할 수 있는 정보공유 서비스나 교육프로그램 개발을 우선적으로 고려할 필요가 있다고 본다.

With the recent trend of outreach services that utilize record information, as outreach services to spread the use of record information have recently drawn attention, ‘Online Exhibition’, a method of displaying digital content, has become another record information service provided by the Archives. Online exhibitions on the website allow users to view the exhibition of records and obtain relevant information without time or space constraints. Also, online exhibitions have recently begun to become more universal, based on the role of public relations as well as the delivery of messages, while increasing interaction with users. The functions and roles of online exhibitions provided on the Archives website must be different from those provided in space. However, there are still no guidelines or minimum functional requirements to effectively service online exhibitions in the Archives.
Therefore, this study aims to revitalize the online exhibition construction of the Archives, and provide the basic functional requirements and their degree of importance of archival online exhibition to systematically operate them. To this end, this study analyzed the online exhibition function and the person in charge’s perception of online exhibition on the currently accessible online exhibition sites of the Archives. Next, based on the literature analysis, the three core functional attributes of the Archives online exhibition and total of 13 functional requirements corresponding to each attribute were derived. Finally, the relative importance evaluation of the functional requirements of the online exhibition staff of the Archives was analyzed by the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) to identify the degree of importance of the functional requirements. The analysis results are as follows.
First of all, as a result of analyzing the online exhibition site of the Archive, it provides only photo-shaped format, and the Archives have not yet implemented the interactive, search, and user-tailored services that are the characteristics of online exhibitions.
Secondly, according to the online exhibition management of the Archives, it is shown that online exhibitions are provided at least once a year, but there are few guidelines, polices, or self-evaluation for systematic management. On the other hand, online exhibition managers/officials at the Archives believe that the main function of online exhibition is not only to improve users’ understanding of the exhibition, but also to promote the Archives and secure users. In addition, person in charge answered that the most necessary competence to them was the ability to understand the exhibits, and that the first problem to be solved in conducting online exhibitions was the lack of budget and manpower.
Thirdly, by analyzing the guidelines, standards or evaluation criteria that serve as the basis for conducting exhibitions, three key functional attributes of online exhibitions were extracted: <Information Transmission Function>, <Information Function> and <Exhibition-Effective Function>. Next, the exhibition functional elements presented in the 32 selected online exhibition/record exhibitions were classified by key functional attributes and by aggregating them, 13 online exhibition functional requirements were derived and defined. The derived functional requirements are <Information Transmission Function: Usability, Search, Aesthetics, Technicality, Interactive>, <Information Function: Theme Originality, Content Inclusiveness, Structural Systematicity, Communicaiton>, <Exhibition-Effective Function: Educational Experience Provision, Research and Learning Support, Aestehtic Entertainment, Promotion and Exhibition Activation>.
Fourthly, the online exhibition officials viewed that <Information Transmission Function>, <Exhibition-Effective Function> and <Information Function> are important in order. Also the most important functional requirements for each key functional attributes are ‘Aesthetics’, ‘Structural Systematicity’, and ‘Educational Experience Provision’. However, in overall, ''Aesthetics’ is the most important functional requirement, while the least are ‘Theme Originality’ and ‘Content Inclusiveness’, all of which belong to <Information Function>. In addition, as a result of comparison and analysis for each archive group, ‘Aesthetics’ and ‘Usability’ were the most important for general archives, but for the university archives, ‘Interactive’ and ‘Educational Experience Provision’ were the most important.
Therefore, the archives should consider the functions of accessing online exhibitions and supporting user convenience the most, and of these, it is most necessary to consider the ‘Aesthetics’ functional requirement that allow users to imprint the characteristics of online exhibitions. In particular, in general archives with varying user interest and purpose, it is necessary to consider ''Aesthetics'' and ''Usability'' functions first over the other and establish an online exhibition system. However, the university archives, which are mainly used by students and faculty, should consider the information sharing services or educational programs that allows interaction with the archives and provision of abundant educational experience preferentially rather than convenience of use or interest-inducing factor.
