서브머린 현상이란 안전벨트에 (Submarine) 의해 승객이 구속될 때, 허리 벨트
가 골반 위로 미끄러지면서 안전벨트가 복부를 압박하는 현상을 의미한다. 서
브머린은 벨트를 맨 승객의 심각한 복부상해 (AIS 3+ 수준) 을 발생시키는 원인
중 하나로 2015년부터 중국과 유럽의 NCAP 평가에서 서브머린 감점 항목을 신
설하여 차량의 안전 성능을 평가하고 있다. 기존 연구에서는 서브머린 발생의
영향인자로 더미의 자세, 벨트 구조 및 변수에 집중하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서
는 설계인자 외의 서브머린 발생 여부에 대한 잡음 인자라 할 수 있는 더미 인
자에 대한 연구를 수행하여 사내 시험과 법규 시험의 편차를 줄이고자 하였다.
준정적 조건과 동적인 조건에서 영향인자를 평가하기 위해 벨트 당김 시험과
저속 슬레드 시험을 수행하였다. 벨트 당김 시험은 더미의 척추와 골반을 고정
하고, 유압 실린더를 통해 일정 하중을 인가하여 서브머린 발생 여부, 그 때의
벨트 하중 및 더미에 작용하는 하중 등을 평가하였다. 정적 상황에서 도출한
영향인자에 대해 동적 상황에서도 유효한 지를 확인하고자 저속 슬레드 시험을
수행하였다. 1차 벨트 당김 시험 결과 앵커 쪽 벨트 각도, 상체 각도, 바지 주
름, 인서트 위치, 벨트 오프셋 순으로 서브머린 발생에 영향을 주는 것으로 나
타났다. 저속 슬레드 시험 결과를 보면 기준 조건은 3번 중 2번 서브머린이 발
생하였다. 인서트 위치 (앞들림) , 벨트 오프셋, 골반 각도 (22.5)는 2번 중 2번
모두 서브머린이 발생하였으며, 인서트 위치 (뒤들림), 바지 주름, 바지 찢김,
바지 브랜드, 골반 각도 (17.5도)는 2번 중 2번 모두 서브머린이 발생하지 않았
다. 벨트 당김 시험과 저속 슬레드 시험을 종합해 본 결과, 예상한 바와 같이
더미 인자 대비 설계 인자의 영향도가 크게 나타났다. 하지만, 서브머린 발생
임계치 조건 일 때, 더미 옷의 상태와 골반 세팅 각도가 서브머린 발생에 영향
을 미쳤다. 따라서 사내 시험 시 바지 주름이 없는 상태, 바지 찢김이 없는 상
태, 법규 시험과 동일한 바지 브랜드, 골반 각도를 크게 하여 악조건으로 설정
한다면 사내에서는 서브머린이 미 발생하지만 , , 법규 시험에서는 발생하는 시험
결과를 방지할 수 있을 것이다. 하지만, 본 시험은 저속의 상황이며, 서브머린
임계치에서 진행된 시험으로 매우 제한적인 조건이다. 따라서 서브머린 방지를
위해서는 벨트 고정점 위치 및 시트, 프리텐셔너 등 기본적인 설계가 기반이
되어야 함을 유의하여야 한다.
