Recently, with the development of information and communication technology, students are changing to an environment where they can use academic resources without visiting the library. Due to these changes, the number of students visiting the university library and the number of books borrowed are decreasing. Accordingly, domestic university libraries have been changing various spaces that have only performed traditional functions such as data storage and personal learning through new construction and remodeling since the early 2000s. In particular, as the 4th Industrial Revolution era has demanded, such as creativity, communication, and cooperation, the space of university libraries is improving toward supporting various activities. However, the space of most university libraries is still composed mainly of administrators, which does not properly reflect the needs of users. In order to accurately examine these problems, this paper analyzed log data of users in the central library of J University. In the analysis of the log data, data storing the number of seats, the number of times of use, and the total usage time information that the user used when visiting the central library of J University was used. Based on the log data, the utilization rate of space for each library, monthly, and hourly was analyzed. In addition, users were grouped and space utilization rates of each group were compared. Through this, actual users'' space usage behavior was grasped, and suggestions were made to improve the use of space in university libraries.
