웨이트 트레이닝에서 그립은 자세를 안정시키고 이를 통해 운동 동작을 수행할
때 해당 근육에 자극을 정확하게 주는 중요한 역할을 한다. 이러한 이유로 많은 사
람들이 스트랩을 사용한다. 그러나 보조 장비에 의존하는 것은 근육의 약화 및 운
동 목적을 상실할 수 있는 비효율적인 효과로 이어질 수 있다. 웨이트 트레이닝 시
에 사용하는 보조기구 중에 신발과 보호대와 같은 것들은 연구되어 있는 것들이 많
으나, 스트랩에 관해서는 실제로 많은 사람들이 사용하고 있지만, 정량적으로 평가
가 된 연구가 많지 않았기 때문에 스트랩을 사용하는 데 있어서 부하의 구간별로
효과를 나타낼지에 대한 연구를 진행하였다.
따라서, 본 연구는 근전도 검사(EMG)를 통해 웨이트 트레이닝에서 바벨 로우 동
작을 수행할 때 스트랩의 착용 유무에 따라 운동 목적에 맞는 이상적이고 효과적
인 포인트에 대한 근거를 제시한다.
본 연구를 통해서 바벨 로우 동작 시 부하에 의해 근육의 사용이 어떻게 나타났
는지 알게 되었고, 결과는 1rm-40%와 1rm-70% 구간에서 광배근 발달에 있어서
효율이 증가하는 것을 보였다. 그러나 100% 구간에서는 광배근 발달에 있어서 낮
은 효율성 증가를 보였다.
승모근의 1rm 기준 40%구간에서 스트랩의 사용이 도움이 된다고 나타났으나,
70%구간에서는 비사용이 근 활성도를 낮추는 것으로 나타났고, 100%구간에서는 스
트랩의 착용과 미착용의 차이가 미비한 것으로 나타났다. 전완근의 경우에는 스트
랩의 착용 유무에 대해 유의미한 통계적 차이를 나타났으며, 40% 구간에서 스트랩
의 착용이 가장 높은 효율을 나타냈고, 점차 감소하여 100% 구간에서는 거의 차이
가 나타나지 않았다. 실험 전에는 스트랩을 사용하면 모든 섹션에 걸쳐 효율을 높
일 것으로 예상되었지만, 평균적으로 1rm-70% 이상의 구간에서는 비효율적으로 나
타나거나 오히려 저하된 결과를 나타냈다.
어떤 요인에 의한 1rm-100% 섹션의 효율성 저하가 나타나는 가에 대한 추가적인
연구가 필요한 부분이지만, 어떠한 조건에서도 스트랩의 사용이 도움이 될 것이라
고 기대하는 것은 잘못된 것일 수 있다는 것을 보여준다.
