This study was applied to the understanding of Korean dance arts based on Gadamer ''s hermeneutics which explained the theory of philosophical hermeneutics. The application of Gadamer’s claim was an application of the interactions with modernity based on the historicity of the interpreted objects. In facts, it was applied to the understanding of tradition acceptance and transformation process in Korean creative dance works.
In Gadamer''s hermeneutics, I have laid the foundation for interpreting objects based on the history of understanding, the understanding of subject content, and the theory of language, which is the mediator of understanding. Through Gadamer''s hermeneutic tradition and tradition as a fusion of horizons, I explained the meaning of the analytical frame, acceptance and transformation. It also accepted the understanding of art works through similarity of play and artwork and mimesis theory.
The analysis process consisted of four parts: past horizon, present horizon, horizon fusion, and interpretation of works. The process understood the traditional meaning in the past history of the work and presented what the present work means. After that, I interpreted the work as a whole, followed by the understanding of the acceptance and transformation of each dance element.
Based on the above viewpoint, the traditional acceptance - transformation of the National Dance Company’ dance work from the viewpoint of hermeneutics is as follows.
First, the three works of the National Dance Company were recreated in a new form through the fusion of tradition and modernity.
Second, they embraced traditional religious thought inherent in traditional dance.
Third, it transformed the contents of traditional dance as a reflection of modern society.
Fourth, modernization of the movement side has been achieved.

The results of this study reveal the usefulness of the hermeneutical point of view of acceptance of traditional dance and the possibility of new meanings in creative works that show acceptance and transformation of tradition. Thus, the approach of hermeneutical theory has a great influence on the understanding of various works, and furthermore the formation of a new perspective of choreographer necessary in the process of creating a new work. Henceforth, the study of traditional dance from the hermeneutical point of view can proceed with more diverse perspectives , and hermeneutics can provide the theoretical basis for expanding new horizons of traditional dance creation.
