The present study is to investigate the path of occurrence and maintenance of Adolescence’s Social Anxiety in cognitive aspect. The Purpose of this study is to verify the double mediating effect of Maladaptive Perfectionism and Achievement-Related Self Discrepancy between Parental Achievement-Oriented Psychological Control and Social Anxiety in high school student.
The data from 387 high school student were used for analysis. In addition, the questionnaires consist of Korean version of Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents(K-SAS-A), Social Phobia and Anxiety Inventory for Children(SPAI-C), The Dependency-oriented and Achievement-oriented Psychological Control Scale(DAPCS), Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale(FMPS) and Achievement Self-Discrepancy Scale(ASDS).
The SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 18.0 were used in this study. Using these programs, descriptive statistics analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, confirmatory factor analysis(CFA), bootstrapping method based on Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) were used to analyze the data.
The result of this study can be summarized as follows. First, Parental Achievement-Oriented Psychological Control had significantly direct effect on Maladaptive Perfectionism and Achievement-Related Self Discrepancy. And Maladaptive Perfectionism had significantly direct effect on Achievement-Related Self Discrepancy and Social Anxiety. Also, Achievement-Related Self Discrepancy had significantly direct effect on Social Anxiety. But Parental Achievement-Oriented Psychological Control didn’t have an effect on Social Anxiety directly.
Second, Maladaptive Perfectionism had complete mediating effect between Parental Achievement-Oriented Psychological Control and Achievement-Related Self Discrepancy. Third, Achievement-Related Self Discrepancy had complete mediating effect between Maladaptive Perfectionism and Social Anxiety.
Forth, Maladaptive Perfectionism and Achievement-Related Self Discrepancy had complete double mediating effect between Parental Achievement-Oriented Psychological Control and Social Anxiety.
Based on the result of this study, the implications and limitations of present study were discussed with the suggestions for the further study.
