상용 관망 정상류 해석 프로그램과 연계한 부정류 해석모델 연구와 응용 프로그램을 개발하였다. 부정류 발생시 관 및 유체기계의 수두 및 유량변화는 특성곡선법을 사용하여 해석된다. 정상류 해석 프로그램에는 EPANET2가 사용되었으며, 이에 대한 적절한 변환방법을 제시하였다. 또한 얻어낼 수 없는 마찰계수 값에 대해선 특성곡선법을 통한 역계산기법을 제안하였다. 부정류 현상은 밸브 급폐, 펌프 긴급정지 그리고 펌프 가동에 대하여 수행하였다. 각 현상별로 두 예제씩 총 6개의 예제에 대하여 변환된 관망 초기데이터를 바탕으로 부정류 해석을 수행하였으며, 이 때 결과의 신뢰성과 계산효율을 파악하기 위해 실제 사용되고 있는 상용프로그램과 최대수두, 최소수두, 평균오차 그리고 CPU time을 비교하였다.
그 결과, 데이터 변환이 제대로 이루어짐을 확인하였고 모든 부정류 예제에서 본 프로그램은 상용프로그램과의 오차율이 최대 2%로, 상용 프로그램과 비슷한 해석능력을 보여주었다. 반면 계산시간은 상용프로그램보다 10배 이상 감소된 모습을 보였다. 한편, 마찰계수 역계산 기법은 EPANET2의 GUI 상에 표시된 결과랑 같을 때도 있고, 다소 상이할 때도 존재하였으나, 이는 유량과 수두를 기반으로 한 계산법의 차이로 결과 비교시, 수치해석적으로 음수를 갖는 경우의 관망에 대하여 기존 EPANET2 마찰계수 대입방법보다 좋은 해석정확도를 나타내었다. 따라서 제안된 기법이 보다 많은 부정류 시나리오에서 적용하기 타당하다고 평가하였다.
