본 연구의 목적은 중공업 설계부서 작업자의 근골격계질환 증상조사와 VDT작업 설문을 통하여 중공업 설계부서의 근골격계질환의 특성을 분석하고 이를 예방하는 것에 있다. 조사는 경상남도 소재의 모 중공업에서 근무하는 작업자를 대상으로 실시하였으며, 응답자는 현장작업자 2,044명, 설계부서 작업자 254명으로 총 2,298명을 조사 대상자로 선정하였다. 근골격계질환 증상 설문지와 VDT 작업 설문지를 사용하였다. 근골격계질환 증상조사에서 현장 작업자와 설계부서 작업자의 작업 특성을 비교하였다. VDT 작업 설문지를 통하여 설계부서의 작업환경을 분석하며, 신체의 통증정도와 VDT 작업 환경과의 독립성 검정(Independence test)을 통해 중공업 설계부서의 근골격계질환 특성을 조사하였다. 신체의 통증정도와 VDT 작업 환경과의 독립성 검정결과는 다음과 같다. 목은 작업시간, 키보드의 위치, 다리를 뻗기 위한 공간과 관련이 있는
것으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 어깨는 업무시간, 키보드의 위치, 다리를 뻗기 위한 공간과 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 허리는 업무시간, 눈의 모니터 상단에 대한 위치와 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 팔/팔꿈치는 눈의 모니터 상단에 대한 위치와 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 손/손가락/손목은 업무 외 VDT 사용시간, 의자에 요추지지 가능 여부, 서류받침대 사용 여부와 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 두통은 작업시간과 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 눈의 피로는 업무시간, 업무 외 VDT 사용시간, 키보드의 위치, 다리를 뻗기 위한 공간, 의자에 요추지지 가능 여부와 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 논문은 중공업 설계부서의 근골격계질환 예방과 작업 능률을 향상시
키는데 기여함과 동시에 추후 중공업 설계부서 VDT 작업에 관한 연구의 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
