Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the Mediating Effects of Self-efficacy and Family support in the Relationship between Illness perception and Health behaviors of tuberculosis patients.
Methods : A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted with 219 tuberculosis patients Who took the drug over 2 months one general hospital in D city in korea. Data collected from survey using self-reported questionnaires were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS statistics 23.0 program.
Result : There were statistically significant correlations among variables; a positive correlation between health behaviors and Illness perception, a positive correlation between Self-efficacy, Family support and health behavior. And a positive correlation between Self-efficacy, Family support and Illness perception. Meanwhile, Self-efficacy and Family support had a each partial mediation effect on the relationship between Illness perception and health behaviors. That is, Self-efficacy and Family support can play an important role between Illness perception and health behaviors of tuberculosis patients as a mediator.
