A Comparative Analysis on the Life Satisfaction Investigation of Foreign Workers

In Korea, the avoidance of 3D jobs - dirty, dangerous and difficult - has worsened due to rapid development of scientific technology, low-birth rate, ageing and income growth since 1990s, and the number of foreign workers was 629,671 and occupied about 34% of foreigners residing in Korea at the end of November, 2015.
National small business was compelled to employ foreign workers for cheap labor and in this situation, foreign workers residing in Korea have suffered from prejudice that they came from poor countries and racial discrimination along with linguistic and cultural problems. Therefore, their job and living satisfaction were low and has become a very serious problem.
This study investigated the influence of factors of foreign workers on their living satisfaction and presented strategies to enhance it.
To achieve the purposes, this study surveyed various Nationality of foreign workers residing in Gwangju and Jeonnam with the use of questionnaire and for the data collected, This study conducted a frequency test, a t-test and ANOVA and Regression for statistical analysis. The results are summarized as follows:
First, nationalities of the foreign workers was significant difference in their living satisfaction.
The satisfaction of foreign workers from Kyrgyzstan Republic was the highest followed by the Philippines, Cambodia, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, China and Nepal. Based on the results, it is suggested that more care is needed for foreign workers from Vietnam, China and Nepal whose living satisfaction in Korea.
Second, visa types of the foreign workers, there was a significant difference in their living satisfaction.
Third, stay period of the foreign workers, there was a significant difference in their living satisfaction.
Fourth, cohabitants of the foreign workers, there was a significant difference in their living satisfaction.
Fifth, dwelling patterns of the foreign workers, there was a significant difference in their living satisfaction.
Therefore, to increase living satisfaction in foreign workers, we should pay more attention to enhancing wage levels, working and living environment, and child care facilities.
