Objective : The purpose of this paper is to translate Shanghansuyuanji(傷寒溯源集) full text and study Qianhuang(錢潢)‘s life, books, relationship between teacher and disciples and characteristic of Shanghansuyuanji(傷寒溯源集)’s contents and format of organizing.

Method : After selecting the best editon(善本) of Shanghansuyuanji(傷寒溯源集), punctuation, hyeonto(adding Korean endings, 懸吐), translation and bibliography research(書誌硏究), analysis of contents and format organizing has been done.

Results & Conclusion :
First, through study on Qianhuang(錢潢)‘s life, books, relationship between teachers and disciples, I see that Qianhuang(錢潢) was a man in early Qing(淸) dynasty, may be born in 1627 and die after the publication of Shanghansuyuanji(傷寒溯源集) and Suwen(素問) annotation book(註釋書) probably was not published and the teacher of Qianhuang(錢潢) maybe Fang You-zhi(方有執) and Yu Jia-yan(喩嘉言) mentally.

Second, a translation of Qianhuang(錢潢)’s Shanghansuyuanji(傷寒溯源集) full text has been done on the basis of Xuxiuxikuquanshuben(續修四庫全書本) and proofread(校勘) after making a comparison between original text and Shanghaiweishengchubansheben(上海衛生出版社本) and Xueyuanchubanshe Dianjiaoben(學苑出版社 點校本) and put in a footnote(脚註) and added Korean endings(懸吐) and translated in order.

Third, through study on the characteristic of the contents of Shanghansuyuanji(傷寒溯源集), I see that Qianhuang(錢潢) view Six channel system from YinYang(陰陽) standpoint and SanYinSanYang(三陰三陽) concept has been given an explanation in relation to the rise and fall of YinYang(陰陽) and several symptoms of illnesses of Six channel(六經) has been given an explanation in relation the flow of Six channel(六經) and the theory of Six channel(六經) receiving pathogenic factor oneself(六經自受說) shows us that Qianhuang’s strict attitude and gives a chance to interpret the disease mechanism variously.

Fourth, through study on the characteristic of the contents of Shanghansuyuanji(傷寒溯源集), I see that Error discrimination(辨誤) shows us that Qianhuang’s meticulous and practical attitude and effort to understand overall contexts(文脈) reading Shanghanlun(傷寒論) annotation.

Fifth, through study on the characteristic of the contents of Shanghansuyuanji(傷寒溯源集), I see that Prescription meaning(方義) has several characteristics. Qianhuang(錢潢) used a figurative expression and figured out disease mechanism from the interrelation viewpoint and analyzed medical herbs & disease mechanism from the viewpoint of Wenbuxuepai(溫補學派) and made inferences insufficient medical herbs from prescription naming and had a intention to enrich disease mechanism by quotating Huangdineijing(黃帝內經), but exposed weakness by not attesting in the action of medical herbs.

Sixth, through study on the characteristic of the contents of Shanghansuyuanji(傷寒溯源集), I see that the tendency of Qianhuang’s attititude quotating Huangdineijing(黃帝內經) through the study the relation to Huangdineijing(黃帝內經) theory. First, Qianhuang’s quotation was appropriate adjusting disease mechanism. Second, Qianhuang’s quotation was not appropriate because the word in Huangdineijing(黃帝內經) didn’t match up with Shanghanlun(傷寒論). Third, There is a criticism on previous annotator’s quotating Huangdineijing(黃帝內經).

Seventh, through study on the characteristic of the format of organizing, I see that although Qianhuang organized organization after being influenced by previous annotator Fang You-zhi(方有執) and Yu Jia-yan(喩嘉言), meanwhile, he classified Shanghanlun(傷寒論) provisions(條文) according to its cause, therapeutical method and it shows his spirit of treating disease according to syndrome differentiation(辨證論治) and search syndrome by looking for cause.

Consequently for reasons mentioned above Qianhuang(錢潢)’s Shanghansuyuanji(傷寒溯源集) has great importance as a Shanghanlun(傷寒論) annotation book.
