본 연구는 패션이미지에 따른 네일아트 디자인 연구로, 다양한 패션이미지의 특징들을 네일아트에 접목함으로써 토털 패션을 완성시키는 디자인을 개발하는데 목적이 있다.
연구 내용 및 방법으로는 첫째, 이론적 연구를 위해 패션이미지의 개념 및 분류, 네일아트 디자인의 개념 및 기법과 선행연구 동향에 대한 문헌고찰이 이루어졌다. 둘째, 실증적 연구를 위해 선행연구에서 추출된 5가지 패션이미지, 즉 엘레강스 이미지, 로맨틱 이미지, 클래식 이미지, 매니시 이미지, 에스닉 이미지의 특징을 토대로 각 이미지별 네일아트 디자인 작품 1점씩 총 5점을 제작하였다. 이를 위해 패션이미지 맵을 모티브로 하여 의상 및 액세서리와 소재 및 문양, 색채를 추출하고, 네일아트 재료와 기법 등을 선정하고 디자인 스케치와 작품 제작이 이루어졌다.
연구 결과는 다음과 같다.
<작품 Ⅰ>은 우아하고 부드러운 엘레강스 이미지를 표현하기 위해 패션이미지의 특징 중 의상 및 액세서리에서 루스한 드레스, 베일모자, 진주목걸이, 실크스카프, 작은 토트백, 골드 액세서리와 보석을 추출하고, 소재 및 문양에서 실크, 벨벳, 레이온, 곡선문양, 식물문양을 추출하여 퍼플, 브라운 등 페일 톤, 파스텔 톤으로 제작하였다. 네일아트 재료 및 기법은 젤, 에나멜, 글리터, 스톤, 파츠, 리본 끈을 이용하여 젤 아트, 핸드페인팅, 그라데이션, 스톤아트 기법으로 표현하였다.
<작품 Ⅱ>는 화사하고 사랑스러운 로맨틱 이미지를 표현하기 위해 패션이미지의 특징 중 액세서리에서 리본장식 머플러, 코르사주를 추출하고 소재 및 문양에서 시폰, 벨벳, 러플, 프릴, 레이스, 도트문양을 추출하여 핑크, 화이트 등 파스텔 톤, 라이트 톤으로 제작하였다. 네일아트 재료 및 기법은 젤, 에나멜, 글리터, 스팽글, 스톤, 파츠, 리본 끈을 이용하여 젤 아트, 그라데이션, 핸드페인팅, 스톤아트 기법으로 표현하였다.
<작품 Ⅲ>은 고전적이고 차분한 클래식 이미지를 표현하기 위해 패션이미지의 특징 중 의상 및 액세서리에서 수트, 선글라스, 장갑, 기본형 펌프스, 각진형 가방을 추출하고 소재 및 문양에서 울, 실크, 코튼, 가죽, 다마스크, 체크, 스트라이프를 추출하여 브라운, 그레이, 와인, 퍼플 등 다크 톤, 딥 톤으로 제작하였다. 네일아트 재료 및 기법은 젤, 에나멜, 라인테이프, 워터 데칼, 파츠, 두꺼운 종이를 이용하여 젤 아트, 핸드페인팅, 데칼아트, 스트라이핑 테이프 기법으로 표현하였다.
<작품 Ⅳ>는 남성적인 매니시 이미지를 표현하기 위해 패션이미지의 특징 중 의상 및 액세서리에서 재킷, 셔츠 블라우스, 베스트, 넥타이, 시계, 벨트, Y라인 목걸이를 추출하고, 소재 및 문양에서 코튼, 체크, 스트라이프, 기하학문양, 카무플라주를 추출하여 블랙, 화이트, 그레이, 브라운 등 다크 톤으로 제작하였다. 네일아트 재료 및 기법은 젤, 라인테이프, 워터 데칼, 파츠, 체인, 단추, 두꺼운 종이를 이용하여 젤 아트, 핸드페인팅, 데칼아트, 스트라이핑 테이프 기법으로 표현하였다.
<작품 Ⅴ>는 강렬하고 토속적인 에스닉 이미지를 표현하기 위해 패션이미지의 특징 중 의상 및 액세서리에서 패치워트 의상, 나무나 뿔 소재 목걸이, 팔찌, 귀걸이를 추출하고, 소재 및 문양에서는 전통소재, 전통문양, 추상적인 문양, 자연문양을 추출하여 레드, 오렌지, 옐로우, 퍼플, 브라운, 그린색으로 제작하였다. 네일아트 재료 및 기법은 젤, 에나멜, 스티커, 구슬, 스톤, 머리카락, 깃털을 이용하여 젤 아트, 핸드페인팅, 데칼아트 기법으로 표현하였다.
본 연구는 패션이미지의 특징들을 네일아트에 접목함으로써 다양한 이미지에 어울리는 네일아트 디자인을 개발하는데 의의가 있었다. 패션과 뷰티를 조화시켜 토털패션을 지향하는 트랜드에 발맞추어 다양한 패션이미지에 대한 작품 연구가 이루어지길 기대한다.

This study investigated nail art designs by fashion image. The purpose of the study is to develop nail designs which can complete total fashion by adding diverse fashion images to nail art.
The research details and methods are as follows: First, for theoretical research, there was a literature review on the concept & classification of fashion images, concept & techniques of nail art design and previous study trends. Second, for empirical research, a total of five nail art designs were created based on the five fashion images extracted from the previous studies (one design from each image): elegant image, romantic image, classic image, mannish image and ethnic image. For this, clothes, accessories, materials, patterns and colors were extracted with the fashion image map as a motive, and nail art materials and techniques were chosen. Then, design sketch and production followed.
The study results found the followings: In ‘Design I,’ the following images were extracted to create a soft and elegant image: loose dress, veil hat, pearl necklace, silk scarf, mini tote bag, gold accessories and jewels. In terms of materials and patterns, silk, velvet, rayon, curved patterns and plant patterns were extracted, and pale & pastel tones such as purple and brown were used. For nail art materials and techniques, gel, enamel, glitter, stone, parts, ribbon, gel art, hand painting, gradation and stone art were adopted.
In ‘Design II,’ to create fancy and lovely romantic images, ribbon muffler and corsage were extracted from accessories. In addition, chiffon, velvet, ruffle, frill, lace and dotted patterns were extracted. In terms of color, pastel and light tones such as pink and white were used. For nail art materials and techniques, gel, enamel, glitter, spangles, stone, parts, ribbon, gel art, hand painting, gradation and stone art were adopted.
In ‘Design III,’ to create classical and calm images, suit, sunglasses, gloves, pumps and square bag were extracted from clothes and accessories. In terms of materials and patterns, wool, silk, cotton, leather, damask, check and stripe were chosen. In terms of colors, dark and deep tones such as brown, gray, wine and purple were used. For nail art materials and techniques, gel, enamel, line tape, water decals, parts, thick paper, gel art, hand painting, decal art and stripe taping were adopted.
In ‘Design IV,’ to create mannish images, jacket, shirts, blouse, vest, necktie, watch, belt and Y-neck necklace were extracted from clothes and accessories. In terms of materials and patterns, cotton, check, stripe, geometric patterns and camouflage were extracted. In terms of colors, dark tones such as black, white, gray and brown were used. For nail art materials and techniques, gel, line tape, water decals, parts, chain, buttons, thick paper, gel art, hand painting, decal art and stripe taping were adopted.
In ‘Design V,’ to create intense and indigenous ethnic images, patchwork clothes, wooden/horn necklace, bracelet and necklace were extracted from clothes and accessories. In terms of materials and patterns, traditional materials & patterns, abstract patterns and natural patterns were chosen. For colors, red, orange, yellow, purple, brown and green were used. For nail art materials and techniques, gel, enamel, sticker, beads, stone, hair, feather, gel art, hand painting and decal art were adopted. This study is meaningful in that it developed nail art designs which go with diverse images by adding fashion images to nail art. It is anticipated that there would be further studies on diverse fashion images to keep pace with current total fashion (fashion + beauty) trends.
