This research had a purpose to investigate an effect of trainees’ emotion reaction, physical image, and a sense of self from their Yoga instructor’s nonverbal communication.
In order to achieve this objective, we used convenience sampling among women Yoga trainees whom attend the Yoga class at least once a week residing at Gang-won-do area. Among those people, we eliminated incongruent data, and ended up with 493 people.
We conducted a survey based on a feasibility study, which included verified credibility and validity questions.
As a result, we effectuated reliability analysis, frequency analysis, member variable analysis, interrelation analysis, and multiple/periodic recurrence analysis. From these methods and materials for study, we had the following outcome:
First, there were numerous differences in effect of participants’ emotional reaction, physical image, and a self-concept from their Yoga instructor’s nonverbal communication depend on Yoga participants’ demographical peculiarities. Demographic features include age, scholastic ability, income level, and one’s past career of training. Every single one of them differs from individual’s emotional reaction, physical image, and self concept in average.
Second, Yoga instructor’s nonverbal communication had a huge impact on emotional reaction. Instructor’s physical language, space language, mind language, and outward language had a positive influence that led to a right effect on participants. Simultaneously, space language, mind language and outward language somewhat had a negative influence that led to a wrong effect on participants.
Third, there was a significant impact on physical image from Yoga instructor’s nonverbal communication. Only outward language, which has to be directly heard in verbal, had optimistic consequences on appearance and body of participants.
Fourth, Yoga instructor’s nonverbal communication also had a huge impact on self-concept. Instructor’s outward language gave positive outcomes in both social and emotional self. At the same time, physical language had a positive influence in finding physical self while mind language and outward language had a negative influence on physical self.
Fifth, there was an important influence on self concept from participants’ emotional reaction. Only the positive influences can bring a positive improvement in having a social, emotional, and physical self.
Lastly, participants’ physical image had a great impact on earning self-concept. Knowing how to manage their own appearances and body health had a positive influence on all social, emotional, and physical self concept.
