The purpose of this study is to evaluate three criminological theories including Hirschi''s social bonding theory, Agnew''s general strain theory, and Sutherland''s social learning theory.
This study uses 1,106 first grade of middle school students taken from the Korea Youth Panel Study in 2014. Rogistric regression and zero-inflated regression analyse indicated that this study generally supports the independent variables.
Specifically, the result indicates that Sutherland''s social learning theory is strongly supported as an explanation for both adolescents'' runaway deciding and frequency of runaway, while variables from social bonding theory and general strain theory were not supported. When social learning theory variables excluded from the full equation model, the change in R square is rapidly down, explaning that social learning especially from delinquent friends are the best impact on dependent variables than other theories.
