This study examined and analyzed a change in biological and non-biological factors by applying quadrat method in order to grasp a change in the regeneration of pine forest and understory vegetation before?after pine forest strip cutting treatment (10m, 20m and 40m) from 2012 to 2015 in Samcheok, Gangwon province. Regardless of clear-cut strip width, understory vegetation cover increased owing to the luxuriant growth of photophilic species and bud formation in tree species. And relative importance value also increased in most of photophilic plants in all quadrats. And relatively photophobic plants decreased or disappeared. And the number of species increased. However, it was shown that, with regard to the cover, a specific species was dominant. With regard to environmental factor, it was shown that bared soil increased, and bared rock and woody debris cover decreased. And canopy openness and light availability greatly increases after cutting. So, it seems that they are maintained every year. It was expected that the number of appearing coniferous seedlings of pine trees would increase on the basis of improved light condition and environmental factor of the surface of the earth every year. However, it was shown that the number of appearing seedlings repeated an increase and decrease because of being affected by factors such as rich or poor seed setting and climate. At present, it is not possible to analyze what type is advantageous to pine forest regeneration. Therefore, the efficiency of strip cutting should be determined for pine forest regeneration by accumulating and analyzing data through continuous monitoring.
