Supportive care requirement in accordance with the therapeutic purposes of Hematologic malignancies undergoing chemotherapy

(Abstract)
This is a descriptive study that confirms the supportive care requirement
needs in accordance with therapeutic purposes of blood cancer patients who receive chemotherapy and conducted among 100 people diagnosed as Hematologic malignancies therapy and being hospitalized or in outpatient treatment for chemotherapy in K hospital located in Daegu. Research was used by tools that translated, reverse translcated by Ham Yoon Hee(2009) of Supportive Care Needs Survey(SCNS) Questionnaires developed by Bonevski(2000), and conducted hierarchical regression analysis with general characteristics and disease characteristics as independent variables in order to identify the factors that affect the supportive care needs for each dimension.
The results of the study are as follows.
In analysis per question among areal supportive care requirement Blood cancer patients receiving chemotherapy appears as highest by 3.19 in psychological region supportive requirement, patient care and support area nursing require 2.98 points, also physical and daily living area nursing needs 2.90 points, needs care systems and information area nursing is also 2.69 points, or other areas of Nursing Needs 2.56 points, or sexual area nursing require a 2.07 point.
As a result of analysis of the factors influencing the Supportive care needs, in case of when the first diagnosis is chemotherapy-care system, it was highest in the medical treatment system and information areal care requirement, highest in psychological areal care requirement in case of chemotherapy about consolidation therapy or relapse, and was highest in patient nursing or support area nursing requirement in case of chemotherapy before HSCT.
In conclusion, it showed a difference of supportive care requirement depending on the therapeutic purpose to blood cancer patients; starting from receiving remission induction chemotherapy treatment ;which is a blood cancer disease that shows a big difference with other solid cancer or course of treatment, number of therapeutic treatment, maintenance treatment, chemotherapy that is implemented before bone marrow transplantation for complete cure. It should be provided with nursing interventions to primarily meet their needs, and considering general characteristics or disease characteristics and providing the appropriate supportive care according to the therapeutic purposes is thought to be able to improve nursing satisfaction with the supportive patient care.
