The purpose of this study is that how frequent ultrasound scanning affect bean sprouts’ growth. Long time ultrasound scan can cause a temperature rise in any tissue and affect the physical body. This is closely connected with patients’ safety in field of medicine. The United States and several European countries have restrictions for number of scanning, while South Korea does not have any limitation for using ultrasound diagnosis.
In this study, comparison was that how different conditions affect its’ growing. ①The been spouts are germinated for 6 hours, they are divided into 13 different groups. After that the ultrasound scanning applied to them when 0.2 cm length. ②The 6 testing groups were exposed for 50 minutes in B-mode and color doppler mode by linear, convex and sector probe every day for a week and the other 6 groups are to scan only once during the testing period. ③7 days later, these testing groups’ growth were compared and analyzed with the control group.
The slow growth was found because the control group grew to be 13.2cm compared to testing sprouts’ growth of the B-mode by Linear probe was 10.9 cm and 11.7 cm by Sector probe. The difference of the 4 mode types’ growth was more significant. The only one time B-mode scanning’s growth was to be 10.9cm, and the everyday scanning by B-mode groups were just 4.1cm. For C-mode, it was 10.9cm for only one time exposure and 4.4 cm for the everyday scanning. From Person’s result, the growth has a very close connection with frequency of ultrasound scanning on only one time scanning by B-mode and everyday scanning by C-mode. And also it was related with using different types of the probe.
So the final conclusion is that there needs to have a significant limitation of ultrasound scan time and a number of inspection when having for diagnostic ultrasound and recommendation like USA and a few European countries.
