안테나의 빔 조향을 이용한 기술이 다양한 분야에서 연구되고 있으며 특히 표적 추적 레이다에서 활발한 연구개발이 진행되고 있다. 표적 추적 레이다란 각도 또는 거리 정보를 사용하여 특정한 목표를 추적하는 레이다이다. 표적 추적을 위한 레이다에 사용되는 안테나는 대표적으로 위상 어레이 안테나와 반사판 안테나가 많이 사용된다. 이러한 표적 추적 레이다는 표적 추적을 위한 구동 방식과 이를 수행하는 안테나의 기술 개발이 많이 연구되고 있다. 또한 주파수 혼선을 피하고 안테나의 크기를 축소하기 위해 사용하는 주파수가 높아지고 있다.
본 연구에서는 작은 안테나의 크기로도 고이득을 구현할 수 있는 W-대역에서 카세그레인 안테나를 선정하여 표적추적을 위한 안테나 구동에 따른 안테나 형상 및 특성변화를 분석하였다. 주반사판 기울임 방식의 경우 안테나 특성변화를 연구하고 BDF를 통한 빔 조향 제어를 통해 기울임 오차를 분석하였다. 안테나 회전 방식의 경우에는 안테나의 설계 변수에 따른 안테나 특성 변화를 확인하여 목표 성능에 맞는 최적화된 변수를 도출하고 설계하였다. 마지막으로 설계된 카세그레인 안테나를 제작하여 측정하였다.
