본 연구는 그동안 북한이탈주민의 선행연구에서 남한사회적응에 가장 핵심적인 변인으로 밝혀진 자기 효능감, 사회적 지지와 경제적 적응은 남한사회문화적응에 어느 정도의 영향을 미치며 어떤 요인이 가장 중요한지 실증적인 조사분석을 통해 변인들간의 차이를 확인하였다. 또한 북한이탈주민의 개인 심리적 차원인 자기 효능감과 남한사회문화 적응 관계에서 그들이 받고 있는 남한 사회에서의 사회적 지지와 경제적 적응의 정도는 어떤 조절효과를 가져오는지 분석하였다.

본 연구목적에 맞는 가설검증 결과는 다음과 같이 5가지로 정리된다.

첫째, 북한이탈주민의 자기 효능감은 그들의 사회문화적응에 긍정적인 요인으로 작용할 것이다. 분석결과 북한이탈주민의 자기 효능감은 문화적응과 사회적응에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

둘째, 북한이탈주민의 사회적 지지는 그들의 사회문화적응에 긍정적인 요인으로 작용할 것이다. 분석결과 북한이탈주민의 사회적 지지는 특별관계의 지지만이 문화적응과 사회적응에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

셋째, 북한이탈주민의 경제적 적응은 그들의 사회문화적응에 긍정적인 요인으로 작용할 것이다. 분석결과 직업만족이 문화적응에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 경제적 수입은 문화적응에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 사회적응에 있어서 직업만족은 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 경제적 수입의 경우 사회적응에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 가설1과 가설3의 결과를 종합해 보면 자기 효능감, 사회적 짖 중 특별지지 그리고 경제적 적응과 관련해서 직업만족이 북한이탈주민의 남한사회문화적응에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 결론이 타나나는 것을 확인하였다. 즉 북한이탈주민이 자기 효능감이 높고 특별관계로부터 자신이 지지를 받고 있다고 인지하며 자신이 하는 일에 만족을 느낄 경우 남한사회와 문화에 적응도가 높음을 알 수 있다.

넷째, 북한이탈주민의 자기 효능감과 남한사회문화 적응관계에서 사회적 지지는 조절요인으로 작용할 것이다. 분석결과 북한이탈주민의 자기 효능감이 사회적응에 미치는 영향에 있어서 특별관계가 조절역할을 하는 것으로 나타났으며, 특별관계의 지지가 낮은 경우 자기 효능감이 문화적응에 미치는 영향력이 상대적으로 줄어들고, 특별관계의 지지가 높은 경우 자기 효능감이 문화적응에 미치는 영향력이 상대적으로 늘어나는 것으로 확인되었다.

다섯째, 북한이탈주민의 자기 효능감과 남한사회문화 적응관계에서 경제적 적응은 조절요인으로 작용할 것이다. 분석결과 북한이탈주민의 자기 효능감이 사회적응에 미치는 영향에 있어서 직업만족이 조절적 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 직업만족이 낮은 경우 자기 효능감이 문화적응에 미치는 영향력이 상대적으로 줄어들고, 직업만족이 높은 경우 자기 효능감이 문화적응에 미치는 영향력이 상대적으로 늘어나는 것을 확인하였다.

지금까지의 연구를 토대로 북한이탈주민의 남한사회문화적응을 위해서는 먼저 초기 남한사회에 입국하여 하나원 입소의 접촉기에 심리적 안정을 회복하면서 자기 효능감을 강화시킬 수 있는 프로그램이 필요하며 거주지 단계의 갈등기에서는 지원정책 중 사회적 지지프로그램을 토대로 남한사회에서 인정과 지지를 통해 기대고 일어설 수 있다는 믿음과 안정감을 찾으면서 삶의 터전을 확보할 수 있도록 돕는 것이다. 접촉기와 갈등기를 벗어나는 해결기에서는 그들의 직업만족이 가장 중요한 역할을 하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 이를 위해 경력개발 프로그램을 적용하여 그들이 원하는 직업을 갖고 일에 대한 만족을 갖게 될 때 북한이탈주민은 비로소 완전한 남한사회문화적응을 한다고 볼 수 있다.

The research is on what affects the North Korea defectors in their south socio-cultural adaptation. In the first, it is about how the self-efficiency, that is the psychological variable of the North Korea defectors, affects them in the South socio-cultural adaptation. Secondly, in the meanwhile we ascertained the difference in variables thru the empirical research how the self-efficiency, social support and economic adaptation, which are the most crucial factors, affect them in the South socio-cultural adaptation and which factor affects them most. Thirdly, it is on the study how the self-efficiency, that is the personal and psychological level of the North Korea defectors, interacts with the factors of social support and economic adaptation and how it controls the adjustment process of their south socio-culture.

The conclusion of the hypothesis testing corresponding to the object of this research is summarized with five points as following.

In the first, the self-efficiency of the North Korea defectors works as one of the positive factors in their socio-cultural adaptation. Analysis showed that the self-efficiency of the North Korea defectors has a positive effect on the cultural adaptation and social adaptation.

Secondly, the social support of the North Korea defectors works as one of the positive factors in their socio-cultural adaptation. Analysis showed that the social support of the North Korea defectors has a positive effect on the cultural adaptation and social adaptation only by the support of special relationship.

Thirdly, the economic adaptation of the North Korea defectors works as one of the positive factors in their socio-cultural adaptation. Analysis showed that the occupation satisfaction has a positive effect on the cultural adaptation, whereas the economic income doesn’t have an effect on the cultural adaptation. In the aspect of social adaptation, it also turned out that occupation satisfaction has a positive effect on the social adaptation, whereas the economic income doesn’t have an effect on the social adaptation. Considering the conclusions of hypothesis 1) and 3), it turned out that occupation satisfaction, related with special relationship and economic adaptation of self-efficiency and social support, has a positive effect on the South socio-cultural adaptation of the North Korea defectors. In other words, the more the North Korea defectors feel that their self-efficiency is high and they get support from special relationship so that they are satisfied with their work, the higher their adaptability is.

Fourthly, the social support works as one of the adjustment factors in the relation between the self-efficiency and South socio-cultural adaptation. The research finding shows that special relationship performs an adjusting role on how the self-efficiency of the North Korea defectors has an effect on their social adaptation, so the less support of special relationship is, the less self-efficiency has an effect on the cultural adaptation and the more support of special relationship is, the more self-efficiency has an effect on the cultural adaptation.

Lastly, the economic adaptation works as one of the adjustment factors in the relation between the self-efficiency and South socio-cultural adaptation. The research finding shows that occupation satisfaction performs an adjusting role on how the self-efficiency of the North Korea defectors has an effect on their social adaptation. It turned out that the lower occupation satisfaction is, the less self-efficiency has an effect on the cultural adaptation and the higher occupation satisfaction is, the more self-efficiency has an effect on the cultural adaptation.
