Characteristic Comparative Analysis of Japanese Garden in Korea.


This study was carried out to clarify the Characteristic Comparative Analysis of Japanese Garden in Korea. In addition to the economic development of nation, the autonomy organizations including domestic city, is gradual1y increasing the exchange programs with foreign cities. Rather than just one-time events with foreign cities, the importance of creating a traditional garden is coming to fore as a method to inform national culture to a foreign country.
Understanding the meaning and making the garden of other countries can be an important means of as part of a goodwill and cultural exchange. Regarding this, it is also important to make an Korean garden well in other countries and to make a foreign garden well in Korea.
Japan is geographically close, culturally similar and Japanese Garden has been made over 432 units in 52 countries worldwide.
Due to the cultural difference and technical problems, between the two countries, establishing a Japanese traditional gardens in Korea is much difficult than making Korean garden in Korea. This is because there is a need to deliver accurate Japanese gardening culture to the people who are interested in the Japanese Garden.
A study of types, characteristics, supplement point of the Japanese Garden in the Korea aims to contribute boosting cultural exchanges and tourism between the two countries.
In this study, for the Characteristic Comparative Analysis of the domestic Japanese garden, 15 project sites were selected and the major items of the study are creating background, periods transition, domestic distribution aspect, private and public possession, garden style, composition, size, circulation, topography, relationship between architecture, major facilities and vegetation, expert participation, cultural heritage, management status.
The result of this study is divided into three aspects in domestic Japanese garden.
First, since the Japanese colonial, domestic Japanese garden was made for the need of local Japanese residents in Honam and Busan district. After liberation, Japanese garden creation in the Korea was stopped because of political and economic reasons. Since 1991, Japanese garden has been created by local government''s goodwill from all over the country by the various needs such as profit-making and businesses purposes.
Second, in the Japanese colonial periods, luxury home garden of "Seowonjo(書院造)" style Japanese garden was made widely. "Jicheonhoeyu(池泉回遊式)" style was no periods relationship but it was created mainly in the garden over a certain size. "Gosansu(姑山水)" style was constantly being introduced most Japanese garden since 1999. Due to the survey "Gosansu" style was created a small area, even artificial ground and it''s cheaper than the other style also tree has only a small number of administrative terms and easy. And "Gosansu" style, which has fixed as Japanese miniature garden by Korean, can best demonstrate a sense of Japanese garden.
Third, to present Japanese Garden, evergreens and stones such as characteristic ingredients of Japanese garden are aggressively reflected but garden composition, management, technology exchanges, on-going research were needed.
