This paper presents a non-equivalent control group non-synchronized pretest-posttest design research paper to test the effects of static stretching on the fatigue, musculoskeletal discomfort, and difficulties with upper limb performance of operating room nurses.
The subjects include 46 operating nurses sampled from the G-power 3.1.9.2 program based on the effect size of .76, significance level of α=.05, test power of 0.8, and independent-sample t-test by consulting the effect size of stretching exercises reported in Kim Jong-gyun and Lee Seung-ju (2004). Of a total of 50 operating room nurses at K University Hospital in D City, two dropped out halfway through the study. While the experiment group contained 23 operating room nurses from the hospital that participated in an in an intervention program, the control group had 23 that did not participate in one.
The analysis results show that the static stretching therapy had effects on the reduction of musculoskeletal discomfort (t=-2.44, p=.019), Disability of Arm Shoulder Hand(F=4.41, p=.042), ㅆand fatigue (t=-3.02, p=.004) among operating room nurses. The findings suggest static stretching can be a measure to help to reduce the musculoskeletal discomfort, Disability of Arm Shoulder Hand, and fatigue of operating room nurses. ention program, the control group had 23 that did not participate in one.
