Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the anti-oxidative effect of Jeokbaekhaogwanjoong-tang (JGT) herbal acupuncture solution in spleen cells of aged rats.
Methods : The spleen cells of 10, 52, 72 weeks old SD rats were divided into three groups; DW, Vit.C, and JGT, which were treated with DW, Vit.C and JGT herbal acupuncture solution respectively, and the levels of SOD, GSH, NO and MDA were measured.
Results :
1. Treatment of JGT herbal acupuncture solution significantly increased SOD activity in spleen cells of 72w old rats.
2. Treatment of JGT herbal acupuncture solution significantly increased GSH activity and significantly decreased NO concentration in spleen cells of 52w old rats.
Conclusions : Jeokbaekhaogwanjoong-tang (JGT) herbal acupuncture solution may have an anti-oxidative effects in the spleen cells of aged rats.
