This study was carried out to establish a management plan for an urban forest trail with analysis of forest degrade types, naturalness degree class and soil physicochemical properties in Jinju urban forest parks, Gyeongnam province. Soil texture was loam in the forest area and forest trails. Soil strength, Mg2+, Na+ of exchangeable cation were significantly higher (P<0.05) in the forest trails than in the forest area.
Soil bulk density, pore space ratio, soil moisture, soil pH, CEC, organic matter, total nitrogen, available phosphorus Ca2+ and K+ of exchangeable cation were not significantly different (P>0.05) between the forest area and the urban forest trails.
Physical environment in forest trails showed average trail width of 1.4m, average bare land width of 1.1m, average erosion depth of 9.3m, average slope of 5.8° and average soil erosion of 109.1㎤/km, respectively. In the results analysis of forest degrade types, the most common types were trail expand of 66%, trail erosion of 59%, side road of 57%, trail boundary erosion and root exposure of 42% of trail.
The naturalness degree was classified into Ⅲ degree like trail erosion and adjacent damage, Ⅱ degree like rock exposure and expansion of side roads on rails, and Ⅰ degree like root exposure, respectively. The average degree of naturalness was 2.4 and classified into Ⅱ degree in Jinju urban forest park.
