Objective : This study was aimed to evaluate patient''s medical service perception of Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM) to find out influential factors through questionnaire.
Methods : This study was conducted as a randomized single blind parallel design. 335 patients were participated in this study. After treatment, we carried out a survey about medical service perception index from April 1st 2013 to January 31th 2014. We evaluated the difference between Korean Internal Medicine and Acupuncture & Moxibustion, and also between the age groups of younger than 30s and older than 40s. Medical service perception index was divided into 7 sub factors, which is doctor perception, medical team perception, dissatisfaction factor, trust factor, medical facility perception, hospital image, and sanitation perception. To evaluate the influence of medical department and age group on the sub factors, we statistically analyzed the result through the survey.
Results : As the results of the analysis, Acupuncture & Moxibustion group had higher points on doctor perception, medical team perception, dissatisfaction factor, trust factor, medical facility perception, hospital image, and sanitation perception than Korean Internal Medicine group. There was no meaningful difference between the age groups of younger than 30s and older than 40s.
Conclusion : The study showed higher satisfaction with Acupuncture & Moxibustion than Korean Internal Medicine, and as variable, department was more influential than age for medical service perception. It is time for TKM to seek a new path to provide a personalized care for patients. Further studies will also need to be carried out based on the result of this research to realize a personalized TKM.
