Objectives: Recently, It is necessary to evaluate the oral health-related quality of life before and after orthodontic treatment for the purposes of self-confidence and improvement of facial appearance. In this study, by using the OIDP, it is necessaly to evaluate changes in the oral health-related quality of life before and after orthodontic treatment and be examined for the factors that affect the change of quality of life. Methods: Using the questionnaires to evaluate oral health related quality of life and oral examination charts of about 107 patients who completed the orthodontic treatment in dental clinic of Busan(2 places) from May 2013 to December 2013. The questionnaires that have been translated into Korean and in accordance with the characteristics of Oral Impacts on Daily Performance (OIDP) questionnaire, was filled in the time of the bracket remoal and the time of a month later has passed. Based on this data, evaluated the change in the quality of life before, during and after orthodontic treatment, and analyzed the relationship between the change in the quality of life and health factors related oral impacts. Results: In all areas, the quality of life during orthodontic treatment was low than before. After orthodontic treatment, quality of life was higher than before. Population in the older (18-29 years) than younger group(12-17 years), decreased quality of life in the physical performances during orthodontic treatment. For females, quality of life during orthodontic treatment in physical performances was lower and the quality of life in the social performance after treatment became higher than males. Conclusion: Based on the above results, when the orthodontic dental treatment, it is necessary to classify the approaches by the age and gender to improve the quality of life.
