Objectives:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the abdominal symptoms of Sasang constitutional disease to make the basis for the clinical treatment.
Methods:
This study focused on the abdominal symptoms written in 『Dongeuisusebowon (東醫壽世保元)』 and compared it with 『Shanghanlun (傷寒論)』 and 『Dongeuibogam (東醫寶鑑)』.
Results and Conclusions:
Abdominal symptoms of Soeumin exterior disease usually appeared in lower abdomen caused by deficiency of ascending of Kidney yang qi, and abdominal symptoms of Soeumin interior disease were related to degree of warm qi of the stomach and cold qi of the large intestine.
Abdominal symptoms of Soyangin exterior disease usually appeared in chest caused by deficiency of descending of Spleen yin qi, and abdominal symptoms of Soyangin interior disease was related to degree of rising of clear yang.
Abdominal symptoms of Taeeumin exterior/interior disease were mainly abdominal stuffiness and fullness, caused by lack of dispersing qi and excessive of gathering qi.
Abdominal symptoms of Taeyangin interior disease can be symptoms of digestive organ atrophy caused by lack of gathering qi and excessive of dispersing qi.
