The CTSIB(clinical test of sensory integration on balance) is normally used to assess the sense of balance. It takes an objective measurement of the amount of sway that occurs in the body trunk by observing the change in the center of pressure(COP) on the foot when the upright. Although the Wii balance board is used for games, it can measures the center of pressure, which is highly correlated. Therefore, it can be stated that the Wii balance board(WBB) has similar results of other clinical instruments. Although the Wii remote controller(WRC) may be inexpensive compared to the Wii balance board, it has problems with the sensitivity and timing resolutions, which results in the product being underestimated and low in accuracy. Thus this research aims to resolve the use of both the Wii balance board and the Wii remote to
estimate the body trunk sway by using the convex hulls and the ellipse area parameters. This research collected data from 10 normal subjects(5 males, 5 females) and collected information from both sensors, the balance board obtained information regarding the center of Pressure(COP) through the integration of 4 pressure sensors and the remote controller obtained information regarding the center of mass(COM) through the acceleration information. From the use of both parameters, the WRC could analyze the body trunk sway similar to the WBB and better than the measuring of the change in the acceleration rate or mean velocity. If these results are extrapolated, the acceleration sensor function in a mobile phone may be used to easily make a quantitative assessment of the cooling down feature.
