In this study, Glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP), Jute fiber reinforced plastic (JFRP) and Hybrid composites (HC) including glass fiber, jute fiber and polyester was manufactured. Infusion molding process(VIMP) was used for manufacturing of composites. In characterization, tensile strength, flexural strength and izod impact properties of above mentioned three composites were investigated. In next step, Impact analysis simulation was performed in order to check performance of manufactured composites. For the impact analysis, composite helmet and concrete plate was modeled. and then their impact strenght through experimental and analytical method were found out. The conclusions are as following.
When jute fiber only be added to polyester, mechanical property was significantly decreased. however, when glass fiber and jute fiber were added together, the new composites have good mechanical properties. In addition, HC have a light weight and biodegradable property. Hence, interpretation to apply this material for real helmet product was confirmed.
Recently, glass fiber-polyester composites are widely being used in various fields. Specifically, the applications where light weight is required to HC usage is highly preferred. By using HC materials, less area is required due to compact design and high strength of HC composites.
