Factors influencing on job Image of EMT among the students of department of emergency medical technology

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of general characteristics and job images of Emergency Medical Technology among students majoring in Emergency Medical Technology and identify the influential factors. A cross-sectional survey was conducted by using self-report questionnaire. data were collected from May 28 to June 19, 2013. 503 survey responses were analyzed using SPSS (Version21) program.

The results as follows :
The mean score of the respondents of job images of Emergency Medical Technology(EMT) was 3.64(±.37) points out of 5 points. There were statistically significant differences in sex, grade, motivation of majoring in Emergency Medical Technician, experience in walking the hospitals and self-esteem.
The date showed a positive correlation between crisis intervention, seeking for stability, field response, specialism and sincerity, social leader and self-esteems. But the showed a negative correlation between crisis intervention, seeking for stability, field response, specialism and sincerity, social leader and grade, experience in walking the hospitals. In the multiple regression analysis, it was found that adjusted R2 value was 0.22 and explanation of regression model was 22%(F=8.27, p<.001).

Therefore, the study suggests as follows :
1) It need to testify the influential factors of job images of Emergency Medical Technology(EMT) using the different variables among the students majoring in Emergency Medical Technology.
2) It suggests qualitative researches on job image changes of EMT before and after experiencing in walking the hospitals.
