본 연구의 목적은 놀이 명상이 ADHD 아동의 주 증상과 정서 인식 능력에 미치는 효과를 알아보기 위한 것이다. 본 연구의 대상자는 서울 근교에 위치한 건강증진센터에 내방 경험이 있는 아동 중 ADHD 진단을 받은 초등학교 저학년 아동을 대상으로 선정하였다. 놀이명상 집단에 11명, 대기-통제 집단에 10명을 배정하였고 놀이명상 집단은 한 회기 당 60분씩 4주 동안 8회기의 프로그램에 참여하였다. 측정 도구는 한국판 주의력결핍 과잉행동장애 평가척도(K-ARS)와 정서 인식 능력 검사(ERT)를 사용하였다. 분석 결과, 놀이명상 집단이 대기-통제 집단에 비해 주 증상[F(1,18)=20.49, p<.001]과 정서 인식 능력[F(1,18)=5.46, p<.05]이 유의하게 감소하였다. 이러한 연구결과는 놀이명상 프로그램이 ADHD 아동의 주 증상을 개선시키고, 정서 인식 능력을 증가시키는 데 효과가 있음을 시사한다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점 및 추후 연구에 대한 제언이 논의되었다.
