The purpose of this study is to analyze learners'' awareness of educational content and actual conditions of its use to seek ways for efficiently using educational content.
To this end, the study conducted a questionnaire survey about how educational content can be efficiently used in a smart learning environment. Using SPSS 12 program, we analysed 210 copies of questionnaires to calculate frequency and percentage of each question item. It used a five-point scale to compare the differences in learners'' awareness, needs, and learning effectiveness of educational content in a smart learning environment. It also performed an χ2 test to identify learners'' awareness and actual conditions of the use of educational content in a smart learning environment depending on the traits of the subjects, including age, occupation, and types of smart devices.
This study largely raised the following three issues: First, how is learners'' awareness of educational content in a smart learning environment? Second, how are actual conditions of the use of educational content by smart device users in a smart learning environment? Third, what are ways for efficiently using educational content in a smart learning environment?
The results of this study can be summarized as follows: First, most smart device users were aware of educational content and had high needs for educational content. Second, concerning the actual conditions of the use of educational content by smart device users in a smart learning environment, more than half of the users made use of educational content because they had positive learning attitudes to adapt to rapidly changing educational environment. Third, a way for efficiently using educational content in a smart learning environment is to strengthen competitiveness of content itself. To actively use educational content on smart devices, we are required to constantly develop those types of content that are not only suited for the traits of smart device users but also diverse and competitive in each educational area.
Based on the analysis of the research results, this study made suggestions about management of the quality of educational content for the active use of educational content, analysis of the effectiveness of educational content according to factors of learners, and ways for efficiently using educational content in a smart learning environment.
