시험 1. 비육돈 사료내 고추냉이 첨가수준이 슬러리의 악취물질 농도에 미치는 영향
본 시험은 서양고추냉이를 비육돈에게 급여하여 분뇨에서 발생되는악취물질의 농도변화를 조사하였다. 돼지는 평균체중 68.4±4.95kg의 3원교잡종 비육돈 수컷 20두를 처리당 5두씩으로 하여 4처리(0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03%)로 대사케이지에서 배치하였다. 사료는 14일간의 적응기간을 거쳐 7일간 본시험에 공시하였다. 사료는 체중의 3%를 1일 2회 급여하였고 사료와 물은 중량기준으로 1:2로 혼합하여 급여하였다. 추가적으로 물은 급여하지 않고 체중은 시험개시와 종료 시에 측정되었다. 분뇨는 대사케이지 아래 분뇨받이를 이용하여 1일 3회 개체별로 채취하였고 분석 전까지 -20℃에서 보관하였고 분석 전 증류수와 1:1 희석하여 이용하였다. 분석항목은 휘발성 지방산과 휘발성 유기화합물 농도를 분석하였다.
서양고추냉이 분말을 사료에 혼합하여 돼지에 급여한 후 분뇨의 단쇄지방산 농도를 측정한 결과, 사료에 고추냉이를 0.02% 혼합하였을 때 아세트산, 프로피온산, 부티르산, 이소부티르산, 이소발레르산, SCFA 및 I-SCFA 농도가 가장 높았다(P<0.05). 페놀과 p-크레졸을 합한 페놀류 농도는 고추냉이를 0.01~0.02% 첨가하였을 때 대조구보다 감소하였다(p<0.05). 인돌과 스카톨을 합한 인돌류 농도는 사료에 고추냉이 0.03% 첨가하였을 때 가장 낮았다(p<0.05).
따라서 분뇨의 페놀류 농도를 줄이기 위해서는 사료에 고추냉이를 0.02% 이하로 첨가하고, 인돌류 농도를 줄이기 위해서는 사료에 고추냉이를 0.03% 정도 첨가하여야 할 것으로 판단된다.

시험 2. 고추냉이와 버섯폐배지 첨가 비육돈사료가 슬러리의 악취물질 농도에 미치는 영향
본 시험은 사료에 서양고추냉이 분말 0.03%, 팽이버섯폐배지 0.5% 및 서양고추냉이 분말 0.03%와 팽이버섯폐배지 0.5%의 혼합제를 사료에 각각 첨가한 후 비육돈에 급여하여 분뇨에서 발생되는 악취물질의 농도변화를 조사하였다. 돼지는 평균체중 78.4±8.88kg의 3원교잡종 비육돈 수컷 16두를 처리당 4두씩으로 하여 4처리로 대사케이지에서 배치하였다. 처리구는 무처리, 서양고추냉이 0.03%, 팽이버섯페배지 0.5%, 서양고추냉이 0.03%와 팽이버섯폐배지 0.5% 혼합으로 구성되었다. 사료는 14일간의 적응기간을 거쳐 7일간 본시험에 공시하였다. 사료는 체중의 3%를 1일 2회 급여하였고 사료와 물은 중량기준으로 1:2로 혼합하여 급여하였다. 추가적으로 물은 급여하지 않고 체중은 시험개시와 종료 시에 측정되었다. 분뇨는 대사케이지 아래 분뇨받이를 이용하여 1일 3회 개체별로 채취하였고 분석전까지 -20℃에서 보관하였고 분석 전 증류수와 1:1 희석하여 이용하였다. 분석항목은 휘발성 지방산과 휘발성 유기화합물 농도를 분석하였다.
슬러리의 단쇄지방산 농도를 측정한 결과 초산, 프로피온산, 부티르산 및 이성체지방산의 농도는 처리구간 차이가 없었다(p>0.05). 분뇨의 페놀, p-크레졸 및 이들을 합한 페놀류 농도는 처리구간 차이가 없었다(p>0.05). 그러나 인돌 농도는 고추냉이 처리구에서 낮았으며(p<0.05), 스카톨 농도는 대조구와 고추냉이구에서 가장 높았고, 고추냉이와 버섯폐배지의 혼합구에서 가장 낮았으며, 버섯폐배지구는 중간이었다(p<0.05). 인돌류 농도는 고추냉이와 팽이버섯폐배지의 혼합구에서 가장 낮았다(p<0.05).

시험 3. 양돈분뇨 슬러리의 저장기간별 악취물질 농도 조사
본 시험은 돈사슬러리 피트와 유사한 형태의 모형의 아크릴 반응조에서 분뇨를 6주간 배양하면서 2주 간격으로 악취물질의 농도를 측정하기 위해 수행되었다. 시험기간 동안 대사케이지 아래 분뇨받이에서 1일 3회 개체별로 채취한 분뇨는 -20℃에서 보관하였다. 돈사 슬러리 피트와 유사한 환경의 모형 20L 아크릴 반응조를 제작하여 분뇨 15L를 넣고 공기를 분단 15ML씩 지속적으로 주입하면서 20℃에서 6주간 배양하였다. 이때 2주 간격으로 악취물질 분석을 위해 분뇨 시료를 채취하였고, 분석 전까지 -20℃에서 보관하였다. 분석항목은 휘발성 지방산과 휘발성 유기화합물 농도를 분석하였다.
분뇨를 6주간 저장하는 동안 2주 간격으로 단쇄지방산의 농도를 측정하였을 때 시간이 경과함에 따라 뚜렷하게 감소하였으며(P<0.05), 이성체지방산의 농도는 저장 4주 이후 크게 감소되었다(P<0.05). 분뇨 저장기간별 페놀류 농도는 0, 2, 4, 6주에 각각 68.27, 47.69, 26.08, 8.84ppm으로 시간 경과와 함께 크게 감소되었다(p<0.05). 그러나 분뇨를 6주간 저장하는 동안 인돌류 농도는 저장 4주부터 증가되었다(p<0.05).
