This study aims to examine the overall trends of domestic forest healing research by period using keyword frequency analysis and LDA topic modeling techniques among text mining methods and to derive the direction of future forest healing research topics. To achieve the research purpose, the period from 2008 to 2017 was set as the first period, and the period from 2018 to 2025 was set as the second period. The analysis data was analyzed from the abstracts of 465 forest healing-related academic papers published in academic journals that are candidates for KCI listing or higher. The R program was used to collect and preprocess data by period, and keyword frequency analysis and LDA topic modeling were performed. The frequency analysis results showed that the top keywords related to forest healing programs, diseases, targets, effectiveness, and places appeared in both periods 1 and 2. The top keywords that appeared only in period 1 were concentration, comparison, diseases, and health promotion, and the top keywords that appeared only in period 2 were scale, meditation, awareness, elderly, therapy, and satisfaction. As a result of LDA topic modeling, the topics of the first period were improvement of environmental diseases, management of children’s stress, establishment and operation of forest healing facilities, development of forest healing programs based on preferences, and medical functions of forest healing. The topics of the second period were activation of forest healing services, development of forest healing programs for the elderly and verification of their effectiveness, establishment of forest healing spaces, effectiveness of various healing environments, and establishment of forest healing infrastructure according to changes in the times. Based on these results, the topics of follow-up forest healing research were explored and directions were suggested.
