The “V得~” structure in Lunheng exhibits distinct transitional characteristics of its era. Semantically, there exists a “behavior-result” semantic relationship between the action denoted by “V” and the result expressed by “得.” Syntactically, the action “V” precedes, while the result “得” follows. Pragmatically, in a dynamic context, a “structural centerexpressive focus” pragmatic structure is formed between the action “V” and the result “得.” These syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic features align with the requirements of Complement grammaticalization. Therefore, the “V得~” structure in Lunheng is ultimately evolving toward a Verb-Complement-Object structure. However, the intervention of various inserted elements has hindered the grammaticalization process of the “V得~” structure. In Lunheng, three structures coexist: the Verb-Complement-Object structure “V得~” which has undergone grammaticalization; the Serial Verb structure “V得~” which has not yet completed grammaticalization; and the Narrative structure “V, 得” which serves as the predecessor of the Serial Verb structure. This grammatical phenomenon reflects the transitional characteristics of the “V得~” structure. The syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic correlations among these structures have further facilitated their respective developmental and evolutionary relationships.
