Recent years, and particularly during the pandemic, the aviation community has identified the need for a program to assist pilots experiencing a variety of circumstances. These include stress, fatigue, depression and other mental health issues related to the strict nature of their worklife, routine and personal life. As a result of one of the most catastrophic accidents in 2015, where the pilot was suffering from severe depression, resulting in one of the worst crash accidents related to the pilot's mental health, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) launched a program for pilots to receive psychological assistance from their colleagues. This decision was made to promote and educate pilots' mental health and well-being. Colleagues experience similar situations, so they can understand people in need of assistance more effectively. In order to reduce the risk of accidents and to increase awareness of mental health within the aviation community and people around them, this assistance program should be considered as mandatory, as it already is in the UK and Europe. The application of the assistance program to Asia and Latin America is discussed.
