This study aimed to investigate the water quality characteristics of Gongji Stream, which flows through Chuncheon City, using a spectrophotometer and a total organic carbon analyzer. Twelve sampling points were selected along the waterway, beginning at Sinchon-ri and extending to Uiam Lake. Absorbance at 254 nm (UV254), dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentration, and specific UV absorbance (SUVA) were measured to examine the characteristics of organic matter in Gongji Stream. UV254 represents the absorbance of organic matter and its resistance to interference from anionic substances. The UV254 absorbance of the Gongji samples ranged from 0.0616 to 0.0877. The DOC concentrations were found to be between 0.674 and 1.76 mg/L, which are lower than the DOC concentrations of other streams, reported to be between 1.25 and 3.23 mg/L. The SUVA values ranged from 4.57 to 11.8 L/mg·m, which are significantly higher than the SUVA values of other streams, reported to be between 1.94 and 3.07 L/mg·m.
