According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the industrial sector accounted for a quarter of global carbon emissions in 2022. To save energy and reduce carbon emissions, it is necessary to introduce factory technology that increases energy efficiency. As a first step in establishing an energy management system for factory facilities, this study aims to reduce energy consumption through monitoring of internal facility systems. As a result of analyzing the temperature and heat flow changes before and after the installation of insulation in a heating furnace at a heavy equipment parts manufacturing plant, the surface temperature decreased by up to 31.0℃ and the heat flow amount decreased by up to 70.9% after installing the insulation. The average daily heat loss was reduced by 45.6%, and the insulation effect was particularly significant at the product exit area. It was confirmed that uniform insulation installation throughout the heating furnace was necessary. By adding insulation and analyzing its effects, it was confirmed that heat loss was reduced by at least 40% and energy efficiency was improved by more than 30%. These technological developments can contribute to carbon neutrality at the national level.
