To contribute to the Special Issue theme, Remapping the Feminist Global, four new AJWS editorial board members and the new AJWS Editor-in-Chief gathered to discuss the challenges and opportunities we see in forging new directions in feminist research from/on Asia and supporting the next generation of feminist researchers. With this prompt, the convenors of the forum, shine choi and Ji Young Jung (in our roles as part of the Special Issue editorial group) and Vernadette Vicuña Gonzalez, as a newly appointed Associate Editor of AJWS, wanted to begin a conversation in the journal space on methodological issues and practical challenges in preparing for, doing, writing, reviewing, editing, and publishing feminist and gender research in/from/about Asia. We recognize “Asia” is a termthat is riddled with ambiguity. Yet this is a useful locational marker and also a way to talk about an array of topics. We discuss the vastly uneven allocation of resources, legacies of colonialism and racism in knowledge formation and publication, languages and access, and other power dynamics that emerge when we try to “move feminist/critical research along” from/on Asia.We collectively explored how wemight go about thinking through and navigating these issues. This conversation builds on earlier efforts in AJWS, some of which have been included in the further readings list, and, importantly, it shifts the focus to the urgency of addressing global political structures animating our academic practices and conversations.
