This study examines the appearance of gender identity, norms, and care within the queer temporality of women’s novels after the feminism reboot. The characters who perform the roles of a child, mother, and grandmother in An-dam’s The Girl Grows Separately (2023), Cheon Hee-ran’s “The Five Prelude, and Fugue” (2018), and Jeon Hay-young’s “Experimental Film Made by Sook-hee” (2024) live in a relationship that is not sealed as one. In An-dam’s novel, the heterosexual normativity is interrogated through the temporality of children’s bodies that are not eliminated. In Cheon Hee-ran’s novel, the normative concept of the ‘right life’ is destructed within the temporality of “hui-mal-lim”. Finally in Jeon Ha-young’s novel, it is described whether the temporality of care can rebound with elasticity. Examining the queer temporality of the three novels allows us to focus on the lives of queer characters who respond ambivalently to normativity and progress with varying patterns.
